How would you describe the Morton difference to existing and potential customers?
Our difference is the people. From the order selectors to the delivery driver, the entire Morton team is invested in our customers’ success. Being local and independently owned, we have the opportunity to go above and beyond, prove ourselves and build a partnership. We have relationships with our customers that cannot be duplicated. Morton has a new school mentality with old school roots, and we’re here to properly serve our customer base.
How does Morton work as a team to help independent restaurants thrive?
With over 100 employees dedicated to making the customer experience like no other, we take pride in working with each department to make sure we are covering our customers’ needs. Although we love delivering quality products from craft local vendors, there are no silos at Morton—we are all invested in the independent restaurant community.
In your experience, what value does this collaborative approach to client service provide to foodservice operators?
Our customers need someone to count on. With one common goal, Morton employees come to work with the same intention: deliver what you promise. We all understand the importance of the independent restaurant community and work daily to make sure all our customers are successful. We are all in the same boat rowing together.
What previous experience do you have in food service, and how do your knowledge and skills help support independent operators?
With over 17 years of sales and sales management experience, I believe I can relate to our customers and work with their pains and gains. I will never leave a customer hanging without a solution—service is what I live for.
Tell us about a time you went above and beyond to help a customer.
Over the years there are many examples of going over and above, although I don’t classify them as this. To me, this is part of the job and I enjoy doing whatever I need to in order for the customer to be satisfied.
If I had to pick one example, it would be my contributions during the pandemic—coming in on nights when we were short, driving trucks when needed, etc. We were in a spot where we needed manpower to get product to our customers. That’s not part of my usual role but it was something that needed to be done in order for our customers to stay open.
What is the best part of your job?
The people I work with are what makes me get up in the morning. I love the interactions I’m able to have with amazing business owners on a daily basis.
