Mac Tots
By Jon Mullet
This appetizer is a spin on the smash burger but instead of putting it on a bun, we’ll put these flavours to work on top of some crispy, delicious tater tots. I’m an adult now, so I want my tater tots to be a little more grown up!
This could just as easily just go on top of fresh cut, coated, waffle or spiral fries. Loaded fries can be a great opportunity for your profit margins and offer higher perceived value for the guest. They have a novelty about them that your guests will surely tell others about with any luck, they’ll post a picture of those delicious tots online. Here we go!

Recipe Instructions
1. Get Yer Tots Fryin! –Drop those tots into the fryer and get them crisping up.
2. Press the Patty – Press out a Prime Rib and Chuck patty so it’s thinner. Place it onto your flat top grill and season the top.
3. Flip Your Burger – Give it a turn. It should finish cooking relatively quickly!
4. Cheese It! – Add cheese, then chop it up with your metal spatula, working the cheese right into the beef.
5. Season the Tots – Once your tots are cooked, season with a little salt and place them into a bowl. Then, pile on your chopped beef and cheese mixture over the tots.
6. Drizzle the Sauce – Pour that glorious burger sauce all over this mountain of deliciousness. Oh yeah!
7. Dress It Up – Add diced onions, shredded pickles, iceberg lettuce, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
8. Mess It Up – Now, it’s just you and those cheeseburger-flavoured fried potatoes. Dive right in—there’s no judgement here.
